Tupperware Quick Chef II and Cool Cubes

QUICK CHEF II
Although I’m a pretty simple guy, I really like clever things. So when I first saw the Tupperware Quick Chef II I knew I was one to something good. Sturdy, well designed, and impeccably suited to the jobs for which it is intended – the chopping, mixing and washing tasks of the everyday kitchen. It’s like a food processor, beater blade and salad spinner, all rolled into the one brilliant product.
The 1.3L bowl can be fitted with several attachments – a chopping blade, a mixing paddle or a salad spinning basket. Whether you’re whipping up a quick pesto, making your favourite muffins, or just freshening up some rocket leaves from your garden, the Quick Chef II is there to help you do it better.
The geared assembly (4-to-1) means that a quick twist of the handle sends the blades spinning at high speed. Meanwhile, the clear bowl allows you to watch what’s going on to make sure it’s turning out he way you want.
There’s even a really handy extra feature for when you want to put together a spot of homemade mayonnaise. The funnel spout attaches to a hole in the lid, giving a perfect slow feed of oil to make sure your mayonnaise never splits. All in all, it’s a great addition to any home kitchen.
The limits? Well, being plastic it lacks the torque of metal-framed electrical food processors. But here’s the thing – how often do you actually need that? In the last three months I have used the QuickChef II almost every day, and my food processor has just sat in the cupboard. And given that it will set you back 80% less than a food processor of equally good quality, I’d recommend it to anyone.

COOL CUBES
Try to picture my disappointment – the day is done, my mouth is parched, the scotch is poured. I head to the freezer for the ice, and catastrophe strikes! There’s ice, to be sure, but none to be had for me. One cube tray has been refilled and has spilt all over the base of the freezer (there’s a cleanup job for Sunday), while the other is filled with the split peas and fish finger crumbs from broken packets.
Life can be cruel indeed.
Fortunately, these problems can now both be solved, thanks to Tupperware’s Cool Cube ice trays. The fitted lid above the tray wells has a pop’n’seal vent through which they can be filled. Once the water is in, simply close the cap and place in the freezer. That way, even if the tray is accidentally inverted or tipped, the water stays secure and the freezer stays clean.
So too the miscellaneous crumbs of my freezer will never penetrate my precious ice as the lid keep both the refrigerator flotsam and ambient smells out.
But the best feature is yet to come. The ingenious flexible material on the base of each will allow you to easily dispense single cubes without the customary heavy beating on the bench, and with out half the ice falling to the floor. Brilliant!!
While you’re at it, grab a couple of extras because you’ll want to freeze lemon juice, stock or even bay food this way.
The downside? Well, for this product there is none. You will absolutely adore it.
